The loss of each and every one touches me deeply and pains me more than I can say. Anyone who chooses to serve their country has my undying respect and gratitude. And the loss of a single one of them is too many. Whether the cause is deemed just or unjust makes no difference to me. They are still fathers, mothers, sisters, brothers, sons and daughters of someone and their lives deserve to be respected and valued.
My heart goes out to all the families of all of the servicemen and women and UN peacekeepers everywhere. I honestly don't know how they bear their losses or live with the fears of what might happen to their loved ones every single day. To all the troops, may our hopes and wishes keep you safe and bring you home to your loved ones soon.
To all those who have fought and left their lives on battlefields all over the world, for us.
