apparently 'bribes' aren't actually illegal in nz
i found something that stated that they were trying to dissuade them in the nz context, though, because they are illegal most other countries of the world and it means that we are likely to get into trouble trying to do international business when we are in the habit of thinking that bribes are a normal or usual or typical way of doing business.
there is some stadium in Christchurch that is due to be finished at the end of the women's soccer world cup -- just too late for the soccer world cup.
so apparently they are going to have to build a stadium only for the soccer world cup that will basically be obseleted when this other one is finished.
they say they can't bring the other one's completion forwards.
course not.
they'll already have done the math on how much over-time and over-budget that one is going to run.
can we get the infrastructure finished on budget to time?
i suppose Australia is doing it for us, really.
