is interpreted to mean that you can't make whistle-blower types of 'accusations' -- becuase that would be defamation / libel.
apparently our burden of proof goes the wrong way.
if you make a claim about someone (an accusation) you need to prove it is true to a certain degree of proof...
whereas usually the way it works is that you can say whatever you want and if someone wants you to stop then they need to prove that your claim is false.
so in the US or wherever the media can publish stories where people are making claims or accusations about the conduct of senior officials and the like. but in NZ the reporters / newspapers would be taken to court for defamation / libel to run them out of business.
there's another, too...
just a constant stream of laws to take from the poor and give to the rich. to take from the innocent and give to the guilty. etc etc etc.
ruining things for us all...
