He has a title and a nice paycheck still but no real responsibility - at least in relationship to Katrina. I bet it won't be long before he is eased out completely.
I just watched the Dateline show on what went wrong. Mind-boggling and very upsetting. FEMA was more of a hindrance than a help here initially. There were so many instances where help (manpower and supplies) was ready to go in to New Orleans but FEMA wouldn't let them. There was all kinds of paperwork and approvals that had to happen first so they sat there and waited and waited and waited before they could go in.
