Well Yeah, Auntie Mel, one shouldn't. And actually my heart goes out to those Americans who must be in some sort of perpetual opposition to the current state of affairs. There's so many good things about US culture and people and stuff. The thing is as I don't live there what I see of the US is the mainstream entertainment industry and the foreign policy. Well I do like to read Harpers and the NY Review of Books, and there are good US movies, you come across them by accident, like Garden State, Coffee and Cigarettes, not to speak of US music which needs no praise from me.
The current situation feels so much like a departure from a US I admired and loved (except for its foreign policy, but even that was more justifiable, I mean Vietnam, cold war etc).
As for Rupert Murdoch I can't talk about him without being rude, offensive and possibly illegal.
