Hi Stargazer,
You wrote: I have heard you can get a copy of your former work records to read what has been said about you, is this true and do they send everything or just the items that they are comfortable with you reading?
It might vary by state. I'm in Wisconsin and per State Statute 103.13(2) "every employer shall, upon the request of an employee, which the employer may require the employee to make in writing, permit the employee to inspect any personnel documents which are used or which have been used in determining that employees qualifications for employment, promotion, transfer, additional compensation, termination or other disciplinary action, and medical records."
In other words as a resident of Wisconsin I have the right to request to review all of my employment records/personnel documents and not just ones the former employer wants me to see.
Thank you for allowing me a use for my paralegal training. I'm a wiz at Wisconsin statutes. Now, if someone would hire me to be a paralegal...
I am sending positive vibes your way that your employment background check comes out clean. As I said in an earlier post they might be more concerend with criminal activity than gaps in employment or why you left a particular job.
Good luck, try to stay calm and more positive vibes coming your way.
