I can certainly empathize with you. While I do believe medications serve a very important role for many people, I, like you, have spent the last 5 years being overmedicated. I have finally narrowed myself down to just 75mg. Effexor per day and still find that for the most part, it does not improve my quality of life very much but rather just keeps me from withdrawing from it. My way of dealing with the "numbness" is just don't take it on some days (which may not be recommened by some people or doctors) so I can feel more clear headed.
But I would like to encourage you to not get overwhelmed or beat yourself up about it and relax and weigh your options with the doctor
