I signed up to apply for jobs with the Auckland DHB.
When I signed up to apply for jobs they ask you pretty up front if you have a disability.
This is for the purposes of exclusion, only. If you say 'yes' then it means they will not process your application, you see.
More recently they have changed that part of the application process. I think they have rephrased it to something more specific about capacity. So something about whether you have mobility problems that mean your capacity to walk around (e.g., for security jobs) is affected and so on. It reads a lot better. It doesn't read as ILLEGAL the way it used to, quite blatantly.
They have even put a rainbow tick and accesability (disability friendly) logo on their pages.
Yeah, right.
They totally know what these things mean. Total 180 degrees within the space of months.
Disability as 'equity' is for the children of the esteemed leaders who don't have the capacity to do the job we are giving them.
That is all that means.
Oh, yeah, it's a reason to exlude everybody else. Exclude them and steal their stuff.
