I like your idea very much. I guess it doesn't actually come naturally to anyone to pause long enough to fully acknowledge what the other person is saying before beginning to express our own thoughts, but I think it is a skill which we can all try to learn.
I assume you are suggesting that, prior to our expressing our own views, we begin a follow-up on a thread by saying something like, " I understood you to say that....". Then, if we miss the mark, the other poster can clarify what they said. Is this more or less what you had in mind? It might be hard to do well, but it would have the tremendous benefit of showing that we are doing the most respectful thing we could possibly do: care about truly understanding what the other person has said.
I'm all for it! The way things are now, I don't really enjoy posting the way I used to; I would love to see some of the best qualities of the "old Babble" again, and this way of doing things might really help that happen.
