26 - in my opinion, or the way I see it, at that age, a person might be wise to hear their mom, look at what she says & then do whatever research, talking with friends, consulting with professionals, maybe talking with a pharmacist, looking in the - hm, is it PSI? (can't remember the name of the book - in Ontario, Canada, it's a huge blue one, think it's called the PSI or something - gives all the side effects, indications & contra-indications for medications)
Anyway, it seems to me almost like a mom saying to their 26 year old - don't be friends with so & so because so & so believes such & such, & I don't agree with that.
I'm sure she has your best interests in mind & believes that the doctor knows best.
I STRONGLY believe in being an informed 'consumer' & an informed, proactive 'patient'. My doctor has recommended things to me & has even said, in response to my concerns, "I would have NO hesitation to recommend this for my wife or daughter" but nevertheless, I decided NO - it did NOT work for me...just didn't feel okay about it.
I believe in trusting my gut reactions at least until I look into what's recommended.
I'm glad you posted about this.
Please take care of yourself, which includes respecting your intuitions JS.
warm supportive thoughts go your way, xoxo Kath
