So what's death, Alexandra? It can't be a prison if there's no consciousness, can it. Or can it? Can unconsciousness be a type of prison-like state? Because if you would choose, wouldn't you choose to be conscious, so isn't Death holding you against your will?
And that's the definition of prison, isn't it? Well I'll rant and rail about that, the jailer isn't taking me that easily .. unless, of course, I wish for Death. And he comes riding along just when I need him most, when pain is unbearable, and in that case, Death is a release, not a prison. Life was then the prison.
(Next may *trigger*?)
I suppose it's subjective, really. I think I'd choose to be dead over being stretched on the Rack .. but as soon as the pain stopped I might choose to be alive again.. only to be stretched again ... sorry I don't know where this is coming from. Vivid imagination.
