Longer answer:

Airtight container, out of refrigerator, nice, fresh taste/texture, several days.

Airtight container, in fridge, loses that YUM factor, but stays fresh longer.

Personally, since I'm the only one in the house who eats any kind of cake (diabetic spouse), I just freeze cakes and defrost in the fridge. Then I stick 'em in the oven to warm 'em up. Maybe not as "just baked fresh", but certainly good enough to eat with enjoyment.
