Absolutely. Most of the time it's an ephipany, such as something I forgot, a deadline I missed, or something else I don't want to be thinking about. If my eyes are closed, sometimes I can see an actual "jolt", like a flash or sparkles, and the anxiety that comes with the though drives my heartrate and blood pressure up. The though becomes obsessive, I cannot think of anything else. I usually get up and do something (last night I got up at 1:30 and played my guitar for over an hour).
Advice for sleeping through it? Ambien might help. I have it but I don't take it very often. I can't reccommend drinking because you have to wake up sooner or later...
