I'm sorry for your loss. I can relate. It's always hard to lose a pet. I lost a turtle yesterday. Her name was "sleeping Beauty". At least that's what my daughter named her. I think she had poor health to begin with, the shell was too soft and she was always lethargic. she was also just a hatchling.
On the bright side, my daughter and I went out today and got a new one. This one is different. It's a semi aquatic turtle called an Ornate Wood Turtle. Pretty big. Very healthy and active. Much easier to take care of. Really nice complex markings. We named her "Morla" after Morla the Ancient One from The Neverending Story.
Good luck with the Koi pond. That's very cool.
