The problem is that when you read a book you actually "know" the characters. You know their minds, their thoughts, everything about them. That is so very hard to bring about on screen. One of my very favorite books "the confederacy of dunces" is being made into a movie, with Will Ferell (I don't even know if I spelled his name right, I can't stand him...). I almost don't want to see the film because I'm afraid of what they'll do to it. But, why don't you try seeing the movie first, if that's possible. If not, just try to take it for what it is. A different perspective. A different point of view from a different artist. It is the same story being told in a different way. I know it is hard sometimes. Sort of like when you hear a song being covered, by a different artist and you hate it! But, it is just a different perspective. An artist's different version of the story.
