How strange is that?? The spending is maybe bipolar but the "zoning out" part was, I thought, just another of my odd little habits, maybe it IS an ADD thing. Anyway I've gotten better since I started reading the books by Paula Begoun - "Don't Go To The Cosmetics Counter Without Me"-
she cuts through all the hype and glossy advertisements and fancy words. She tells you what all those ingredients are in cosmetics, facial care and hair products, what they'll REALLY do for you, and her rating of the product's performance. You find out stuff like, L'Oreal and Lancome are owned by the same company and many of their products are the exact same formulation, the only difference being packaging and price. I don't think she's going to write any more books, but she still has an interesting newsletter and website at www.cosmeticscop.com -

But it's still hard to stay away from the makeup displays and bath products, for sure. Also the vitamins and herbs and whatnot...still I can do the same thing at Borders or Barnes & Noble, I start going through books and before I know it, a couple of hours have passed by...I feel at home around books and coffee and you have to try pretty hard to not "fit in" with bookstore people, they're pretty diverse. I can go in there in my raggedy jeans and black Army jacket and even though I'm out in the "burbs" nobody looks at me twice, who cares what you wear as long as you don't stand really close if you smell bad.

Which I don't think I do...in the summer I love powder, baby powder and dusting powder and talcum powder...my STBX gripes about the powder I leave "everywhere" in the bathroom because if he brushes up next to the tub or something, it leaves powder on his dark uniform. So ever since he made the mistake of telling me that, I shake on powder with much abandon and glee after every shower.

Well now I'm just babbling...>-)
