They don't call it 'retail therapy' for nothing. My comfort store is Target. I drive to this one that's out of the urban area, more like small-town suburbia. I think it's recreating my childhood Friday night ritual. That was our family date night-- we'd all go for dinner (usually fast food or cafeteria style steakhouse) then Mom would grocery shop at this store that was connected to a Target (called Ayr-Way back then) and I'd browse for an hour or so and spend my allowance on treasures. Single records (88c is the price I recall), knick-knacks, costume jewelry, craft supplies, paperback books.
Now I look at cheap DVDs, books, jewelry, makeup, clothes, and outdoor decor. I'm pretty good at not buying much.
