In reply to I feel Sept 11 depression coming, posted by John2222 on August 23, 2002, at 23:06:29
I remember telling my hubby last 9/11 that we
are about to see a nationwide attack of PTSD.
I think I was right. At first I thought the
tears that came so quickly--esp at "God Bless
America" were the symptoms. But PTSD comes
later. I would imagine the depression now
would probably fit.I understand how you feel. I have some good
and bad things coming up in Sept and yet 9/11
sits there in the middle as a big ugly bump.
And we relate special days to what happened
the year before. Lucky me, my birthday was
declared the National Day of Mourning. So
this year I'll also be relating to that.I agree with those who say don't watch too much
of it. I plan to watch on 9/11 to purge the
feelings. But all the "lead ups" are going
to be avoided. No need to get more depressed.
And I'm going out on a day other than my birthday
to avoid those memories. No "Day of Mourning"
this year (I hope!!).And Mr Beev---you are an awesome guy! I avoid
planes anyway, so to hear someone planning to
fly on 9/11, when we will be thinking about such
things as plane disasters, makes me admire you!
