Cam,
I too was saddened to hear of your loss. I was also quite appalled by the content of the mail sent to you and can but wonder as to the condition of the person who sent it. I fondly remember the old days of the internet when such behavior was never tolerated for long and doing away with it was very easy. Hopefully, whatever sad need the email abuser had toward you has been satiated. I sense that person possibly does such a thing frequently.
I'm pretty new to this board, but I would like to mention to any who may not know, that the sort of unsolicited and abusive email that has been indicated in this thread (particularly if it becomes repetitive) can almost always be stopped and done so legally. This is true even if it comes to you via blind addresses or is web-based.
Sometimes it's takes a bit of doing to pinpoint the source of the problem, but once that is done, it is usually fairly easy to shut the offender down, at least for a while. Afterward, it is possible in some instances to have a repeating offender "blacklisted" across a range of service providers or even to have charges filed against the individual. In severe cases, it is often well worth the trouble.
As far as I am able, I would be willing to assist someone in handling such a problem if it was desired, needed and appropriate. It wouldn't be the first time I've done so. This might make me a target of abuse as well, but that would be ok. I would simply do some of the things I know can be done to remedy such aggravation.
Peace,
B
