Jesse is an angry kid - no doubt. And I agree, all of these TV clients are not only fairly confrontational, but they seem to know just what to say to push Paul's buttons. And how about how they ask (directly and indirectly) about his personal life -- both Jesse and Debra Winger's character did that a lot. I don't think that is commonplace either. In 8 years of therapy, I think I've directly asked 3 personal questions and they were of the "vague" variety - - - ex: how many children do you have?
One thing I noticed about Jesse's character that I could relate to was how he looked away a lot ... they showed us the anxious feelings in silence which is where I'm at 75% of the time (or it feels that way). The female teen gymnast (from season 1) was more accessible - more likeable in her pain. Jesse pushes everyone away.
