I finally had a chance to watch all four episodes and I've read some about this season. This is the first season to be written for American TV instead of rewritten over the original scripts. So it will be interesting to see if things change.
The thing I hate is that clients and Paul, when he is a client, are shown as pretty confrontational. They fly off the handle a great deal, pushing back directly at the therapist. It is more my experience that clients sort of save it up and finally get mad - or they go quiet if they are upset. Once in awhile they explode on the spot. So I'm not sure I like that depiction. But I remind myself they have to show intensity and this is one of the only ways since you can't "feel" what is happening.
I watched the one about Jesse when my 19 yr old was in the room. He has been in therapy since he was 11. His comment was "I'd never talk to my therapist like that, he'd kick my a>>" I was glad to hear that!
I have to say I like Paul's new therapist. She really called out all the duality of his relationship with Gina. :)
So - would you read a book written by YOUR therapist?
