You might enjoy "The Life and Opinions of Maf the Dog and his friend Marilyn Monroe", by Andrew O'Hagen.
It's a dog's view of American politics and culture. The bits that have been read out to me have been wonderful.

It's so much easier to hobble the next administration (cut taxes for the rich, start a new war, increase military spending, convince people they are threatened) than to fix the damage once it is done. The well blow out here was similar perhaps, except for the fact that it was not nearly so deep, and it took 3 months to plug too.
Given Christian and Christianist opinion, I think it would be wiser for gay people in partnership to have all the property rights pf marriage with a different name.
Christians with a sense of shame might like to consider abandoning entirely the field of sexuality, given their history and look to how other religions (but perhaps not Islam) handle it.
