Yeah, he is a doctor. To the best of my knowledge he paid his own way through philosophy (ethics) and medicine at Otago (New Zealand). Then he joined the air force in England. He was serving in England.
So I don't think the military paid for his medical training...
It was a statment. He could have resigned.
The point, however, was that he wanted the court case. He said that he was under no obligation to follow an unjust order. Nazi soldiers (when they were tried for war crimes) said 'but we were just following orders' and the upshot was that tough. That is no excuse. They were convicted of war crimes. He said that he was under no obligation to obey an unjust order. He was tried... It could have come back that the order was unjust but the upshot of that would be that every member of the coilition force... Would be guilty of war crimes.
That isn't going to happen.
But the little guy from NZ takes on the British AirForce regarding the illegality (alledged) of the war.
We are very proud of him in NZ.
He could have resigned... But he has something greater in mind. He is going to appeal.
He would be healing people so the people can go kill other people. He would be healing people so the people can go be killed by other people...He has had no problem following orders before...
He studied the war... And concluded that to the best of his knowledge the invasion of Iraq was unlawful.
If only... The Nazis had come to a similar conclusion regarding gas chambers and th elike...
