A comment:
> In the run up to the war the bulk of the population considered it was illegal and morally wrong. Support that followed the invasion was the belief there was a duty to support our troops. I respect the opinion of some service and ex-service men in their comments but I wonder how many are old enough to remember the judgements at Nuremberg following WW2. As a WW2 serviceman I do. I am sure the sentence was in part political for if the illegality of the war was acknowledged it would mean that every coalition serviceman who took part in the invasion is a war criminal. Like F/Lt Kendall-Smith I cannot see any difference between the Coalition's invasion of Iraq and Hitler's attack on Poland or Saddam Hussain's assault on Kuwait. The Secretary General of the United Nations said the attack was contrary to the UN Charter to which this country was a signatory. If it is not illegal, what is?
