Of course you're right. I was focusing on this comment in Rod's second post: "two trillion ($2,000,000,000,000) dollar imbalance of trade payments to China" which I took to be a reference to a trade deficit, not a debt.
This may be a terribly naive question, but does the US government owe *any* money to China? If so, why?
(Can you tell it has been almost 30 years since I took a class in macro-economics? Not that I understood it then.)
Please educate me. I'm always glad to learn something new.
