People for the Ethical Treatment of Minerals is currently leading the emerging "mineral rights" movement. Members plan to gather Tuesday morning outside of Harry Winston's in Beverly Hills to protest the cutting and sale of gems by jewelers. A PETM spokesperson said their focus for 2005 would be, "Faceted stones are fake!"
In other news, "the government [is] offering up the National Parks in four western states to ease tension over [a] two trillion dollar ($2,000,000,000,000) imbalance of trade payments to China."
Asked how he felt about it, China's minister of foreign trade said, "Well, since we provided most of the labor for mineral extraction in the western United States in the 19th and early 20th centuries, it's about time we gained the rights to whatever's left."
