You obviously have much more faith in human nature than I do.
One of the rules of a jury is that *none* of them know the defendent in any way, shape or form. A jury made up of posters here would have some form of relationship with posters being "voted" on.
I agreed changes are needed, but I don't think a voting system is the way forward. I'm not sure what is.. In my time online (way too long.. heavens.. I've been using the "internet" for more than half of my life!) I have seen so many different forms of blocking, and a voting system has always, very quickly, run aground.
I'm not sure how to deal with the problem.. nothing seems practical enough for a site this large. Someone suggested 1 week blocks, except for serious transgressions and repeated blocks. But, how do you determine what a serious transgression is.. there *will* be arguments about that..
If enough people chuck their ideas into the pot though, we will eventually think of a solution!!
