A bit of history, I got back from Iraq about a year and a half ago and started taking Klonopan. I took it for a year and finally got off. (Man that was hard!) Right after I started feeling better, my wife and I lost our baby boy. This immidiately put me back on Klonopon and xanax. It was the only way to keep it together for my wife and daugter. (so I thought) At the same time I was taking Vicoden and percocet for a Line of Duty injury I had. Well, I realized the opiots got me throught the day and I started abusing them. Now I'm hooked on both. I've been to three doctors and they all say "just get off." Obviously it is easier said than done. I realy dug myself into a dich here. I dont know If I should get off the Benzos or the Opiots first. I cant do both and Function at all. Sadly I'm at the point that when I take them I am "normal." I take care of my wife (she has DVT) and my doughter and go to work. I dont want to be like this and need to be a good father and husband while "clean." I really need help and I think others experience will help. At this point doctors to me are useless. Thanks in Advance and sorry for the long post.

I've been on a pretty high dose of xanax for over two years now. I once stayed at a friend's house for a few days and ran out of my pills. She gave me hydrocodone to see if it calmed my withdrawals down, and it worked to my surprise.she didn't have many, so i had to ration them out pretty well. But i didn't think i could substitute hydrocodone for xanax when i went into withdrawal, but it did work. personally i think you should get off of the klonopin and xanax first. Do it real slow though, you don't want to have a seizure. If you can, try to totally switch over to just the klonopin, kinda slow, then slowly get off that.it's supossed to be easier to get off of cause it stays in your system longer. when you're off of the benzos, it shouldn't be too hard to get off of the opiates, but only if you do that very slowly too. none of this is easy and it will take quite a while if you're addicted enough. you don't have to take my advice, it just seems to me that how i said it would make the most sense, maybe not. i've never been addicted to opiates, but i know you won't die from getting off of those. later

And slow is the magic word...give yourself a year+ to get off everything. There's no hurry, especially if you are making progress. Even though you don't have any use for docs right now, you really do need to have a doc in the picture in terms of knowing what you are doing-there are always dangers in withdrawal, plus you might need to try a different (for example) benzo scheme to make the withdrawal easier. Withdraw from one med at a time and if you are too uncomfortable, go back to the the lowest dose where you were "comfortable" and wait, and try again with a lower decrease. Do everything very slowly and resist the urge to "get it over with". Best of luck.
