particularly bad day :-(

At work now and feel awful anxiety with no apparent reason whatsoever. Chest is tight/constricted. Why does anxiety come out of the blue sometimes?

(((Sonya))) that's always been the hallmark of anxiety for me. It rears its terrifying little monster head when I least expect it. I ended up having to opt out of working as it became worse as time went on. Do you have a space there that you can retreat to and get some "down" time for meditation and breathing exercises? A door to close? That can help.
Best wishes,
partlycloudy

Thanks, pc. I've tried doing what you suggest. Deep breathing works temporarily, but before long, I'm back to being wound tight as a top. It's very upsetting that it's happening now because I'm trying hard to be ok without meds. I guess I'm not being very successful. :-(

Could you go get a warm cup of tea? That helps me when I have anxiety.

Something about tea brings about a calming effect.

And yes, make sure you are doing deep breathes through your abdomen and not shallow ones through your chest.

Another thing that helps, try to concentrate on something other than how you feel. If I think about my anxiety, it only makes it worse so I try to force my brain to really concentrate on something; a book, magazine, read someting on the web, etc..

And lastly, I will pray right now for peace and comfort to your body and mind.

I'm also a big fan of my white noise machine as I find it helps me concentrate when my head is busy spinning itself into spaciness. Somehow having a soothing sound in the background helps to ground me, too.
Hang in there, Sonya.

Thnx to you both....I'm better now. :-) (nm)
