the technology is there already.

methinks the problem is more in the promoting of those cars, and the concern about what will happen to countries where oil is a significant part of their economy...

electricity...
peanut oil...

etc.

hybrids etc.

yeah they have a bit less grunt but gee more grunt and a dead planet vs less grunt less deaths on the roads and less irreversible damage to the planet...

what would the impact on the us economy be if other countries stopped buying fossil fuels???

I guess the impact on the u.s. economy would hinge on whether they can run tanks on peanut oil and electricity.

ROFL.

But cars... Petrol has gotta be a pretty big earner. Till... Well until it runs out and / or people invest in converting their cars to hybrid or alternatives... Then I wonder...

There was something in the paper the other day about hybrid peanut oil and diesel cars. Bit less grunt than just diesel but WAY cheaper to run. And better for the environment too.

I think this is just one of those things where...

It depends on how much we are willing to alter our lifestyles a bit in order to help the environment. Doesn't look like... The governments are willing to come to the party with reduced road taxes, or assisting with the conversion (about $4-5,000 NZ dollars to convert the tank).

But... We will see I suppose.
