Re: PBC on Psychological

Dr. Bob,

Just for clarification, If I'd said "one" instead of "you" would that have been civil? "I believe that this is something "one" must experience..." That was actually how I meant it, since there have been several threads about this lately.

I would also like to know if the overall intent of a post seems obviously a response to someone else's thread, but it isn't in the same thread - if the tone feels mocking (as in using baby-talk) wouldn't that at least warrant a warning?

I'm sorry if my response was uncivil. I actually was trying to be accepting.

Are you referring to me? My intentions were honourable. It was not a response to anything in particular. It was not meant to be mocking.

And actually I was PBCed in spite of using "one" and making an effort to specify that I wasn't speaking of anyone in particular.

If I understand the civility guidelines, our "intent" matters less than how we might make someone feel, based on our word choices. Which is kind of why I was asking about using the "one" vs. "you" - I also did not intend to be answering directly to you and your experience, but rather in more global way to many of the posters who have questioned a variety of relationship aspects that can occur during therapy. However, reading it again, I can see how I was not clear because I did, indeed, say "you."

I don't think you were pbc'd -- at least not on that thread, but maybe I missed it. I think I'll just choose to steer clear of these kinds of threads in the future.

Now I see it - missed it the first time. (nm) » Daisym

How did you imagine I might feel when I read your post above?

I think Bob prefers that we ask about particular posts recieving PBCs by using the notification button? Or possibly things changed during my 11 week block for unwittingly posting an AP story that quoted someone saying something unkind about a nation which I stated disagreement with :)

It is not my intention to hurt your feelings, or anyone else's, ever. If I have, I apologize.

Thanks for asking. I read it as a general "you" in the first place. But still I thought it was jumping to the conclusion that those people wouldn't be able to understand.

Thanks, steering clear prevents accidents! :-)
