I've been taking 25-50 mg of seroquel for insomnia related to my depression. Last night I took 50 mg and went to bed. I woke up this morning and remembered a few things from yesterday. But I'm not sure if they actually happened. It's like I have two versions of events. The standard pg film, and the editor's cut if you will. Usually I can tell when something was a dream or reality, but there are two episodes from yesterday with multiple real and plausible versions. I don't know which is which.
The most disturbing this is that I can't remember if I got out bed last night and took 2 more seroquel pills (up to 100mg, which is safe) or not. I actually just counted my pills, to make sure (I never took the other two pills)
Has anyone else experienced abnormal dreaming on seroquel?
It's not like ambien, when I woke up one time and I thought I was flying for about an hour. That was kind of cool, but definitely fantasy. I may have said something to someone, but I'm not sure. If I ask her, she'll think I'm bonkers!

keep an eye on this llrrrpp.
i was on 100 seroquel for a while and i started having all kinds of memory/cognitive issues. it got to the point where i would sit in front of my computer at work and didn't know what a 'file' was or how to 'access it. keeping in mind i work in tech support. i know computers inside and out. (really effected my job at that point)
i went to my pdoc and he took me off it immediately. he said he had seen very similar effects in several people, he did not put me on that med (previous doc did), nor does he readily Rx it for these reasons.
though i don't want to poopoo this drug cuz it was the only real thing that REALLY let me sleep. it was great for that. and i know it works Wonders for others.
but i happened to be one of those that had bad cognitive side effects from it.so i guess what i'm saying is not to panic, but to keep a watchful eye on this. if it gets worse etc.
and wow, flying on ambien huh?? it never did that for me dang it.
best wishes.

Well, I had really bad attention and memory (short term and long term recall) for the last few months because of the depression. That's getting better. I feel almost "clear" today. Which is kind of nifty. i think a lot of this is because I had such intractable insomnia since february. when I was able to get some slep (b/c of seroquel, started about 2 weeks ago) i think a lot of the cognitive stuff started to mend itself. But these dream/reality issues feel different than the attention problems related to the depression. I'm going to keep track of it for sure.
I always wonder how wise it is to mess with sleep. I mean, so much important memory consolidation happens during sleep. If I'm messing with my sleeping brain by taking seroquel, I may very well be messing with my memory consolidation. What i experienced is a classic source-memory error (part of normal adult cognition), although the scope of it (entire episodes with ripe details) is pretty unusual.
Thanks for your insight B2C :)

i'm glad to hear your feeling better.
and i really wanted to comment on the sleep thing. i think when i first started seeing my now pdoc his BIggest concern was with my sleep. it seemed it was affecting everything i do, effecting my mood, effecting my work,, my home life. it was terrible and he focused very hard on that.
i think/know that once my sleep issues calmed down and became more regularly adequate my mood also began to stabilize. its amazing what lack of or inconsistent sleep can do to a person.
i guess it was a question of the chicken or the egg though in my case. was the lack of sleep causing depression, mania, anxiety or the other way around??
but i guess that can go the other way also huh...having controlled sleep (is that what you were saying?) that is mess with normal sleep by having sleep induced or maintained my certain meds.
sometimes it boggles my mind how much and at the same time how little we know about our brains.not much insight...but opinionated this week that's for sure.

I know I'm feeling better, because when I saw
(((((llrrrpp)))))
I actually FELT it. a little tingly in my heart
Wow. That's SO cool :o) :o)Re. "flying on ambien"
Well, here's the thing. I was on an overnight train, and I took the ambien, and for some reason I was awakened after only 2 hours. I felt like I was in my train seat, sitting up, but that my train seat was hovering over the countryside (there was no train underneath me, and I was flying it. Like on a roller coaster, or Harry Potter on his broomstick. I didn't feel dizzy or sick though. I fought against falling asleep, because it was so much fun! Good thing I wasn't the train operator!
whee:)hugs back to you ((((B2C))))
hugs to EVERYONE!

hi,
seroquel is gonna interfere with memory, not through sleep but directly due to its multi site antagonism. It disactivates numerous receptor sites that directly or indirectly are engaged with memory formation.
not that benzo's are any better in regard to memory formation, but at least they're straight forward.
already try lunestra?

I found that after 4 weeks or so, I didn't have any problems with cognitive function. However, I have the most insane dreams on Seroquel. I wake up in the middle of the night or in the morning completely freaked out.
One pdoc had me taking 900mg. I now take 300mg. I won't complain about the dreams as long as I'm not paranoid or hallucinating.

I haven't really been remembering many of my dreams in the past few weeks I've been taking seroquel.
I remember my dream from last night though.
I checked CNN.com just before bed, and read about the devastating Indonesian earthquake (very sad news) and I dreamt that there were riots in Jakarta and that rival street factions were battling each other with large bull elephants. Very vivid, very specific, very unusual.
This is the end of the thread.
