OK, the Seroquel is working BUT ...

Posted by UgottaHaveHope on April 30, 2006, at 1:08:05

I need your help, your opinion.

I normally take 25mg of Seroquel per day for anxiety, but over the last three weeks, since I have been upset over some other things, I have gone up to 200mg. I have lost 20 lbs. but I finally calmed down.

Now I feel depressed. In the past 8 years, I tried every SSRI and nothing worked. Does anyone know anything I can talk to my pdoc about ... to give me a little lift? Something that is safe to take with Seroquel?

Thanks, Michael

Its hard to say without a dx... for various reasons I take Seroquel with Cymbalta which should give you a slight "lift". Cymbalta is a subtle antidepressant which may take a little while to feel but is a fairly effective one. Others may add things like Provigil and the like but that's getting a little in the more experimental range. A small dose of Wellbutrin SR/XR might work too. Either Wellbutrin or Cymbalta are compatible.

Cheers

I can't think of any drug that would be dangerous to combine with Seroquel.

As was suggested, Wellbutrin might be worth a try. Although this drug is known to produce anxiety early in treatment, perhaps the Seroquel will prevent that from happening.

You might be an ideal candidate for the Emsam patch. Even at low dosages, it appears to give people a gentle boost in mood and energy.
