I used diphenhydramine in benzo withdrawal and found it effective for sleep. I think promethazine (Phenergan) was even more effective at suppressing the nausea and helping me sleep. Diphenhydramine sometimes made me feel jumpy and jittery if I was feeling agitated to begin with. These drugs do lower the seizure threshold, just something to be aware of, though it wasn't a problem for me quitting cold turkey from 10mg Klonopin and 400mg tramadol, but I was also taking Lamictal (anticonvulsant) at that time.

Ginger drops/biscuits and peppermint tea were helpful with nausea and bowel cramps, and pickled beetroot (!) was also very effective for this -discovered that one by accident and I suspect it may not work for others ;-)

Valerian and skullcap were helpful once the worst was over and I am still using them now, alongside other herbs with good results.

Good luck with your withdrawal.
