I'll try and answer your questions as best I can...

I've personally never had dex withdrawal, just withdrawal from the usual stuff like effexor, celexa etc.

I don't think withdrawal from dex is dangerous....unless you were on an ultrahigh dose or something, but even then I doubt it. And you were on a tiny dose, so...even still its generally wise to taper very gradually. And it minimizes the some of the side effects of withdrawal....

No, withdrawal is just hell or mildly unpleasant depending on the medication. Its usually wise to withdraw in a slow taper, by gradually reducing the amounts rather than going cold turkey - which can be slightly bad. But if were on a tiny, dose....

Well perhaps you could take a tiny amount of dex, say, half of what you ususally take, and then wean down from there - I've been known to cut up my pills into tiny tiny pieces in an effort to wean off.

Withdrawal is a slow process I'm afraid. It usually takes 2-3 weeks after the stuff is out of your system for the side effects of withdrawal to disppear, then another month or two before your brain feels like yours again..... its slow.... but you'll be better off in the longterm without the dex, IMHO.

I can't really comment on that the pdoc recommended - I'm not too familar with some of those drugs I'm afraid (and i'm not a pdoc!!!) but I encourage you to do as much research as possible on your own...pdocs are only human after all, and can and do make errors of judgement......I've found much better relief from medications I've found out about, and not suggested by my doctor...

Kind regards

Meri
