> For the past 3 years or so, I have take Klonopin "as needed" for panic and anxiety, usually .5 or 1 mg. There were times I'd go for weeks, months even without taking it. Lately I've been taking it more frequently, about 1.5 mg. About 2 weeks ago my pdoc said to split the 1.5 into 3 doses. I told her I couldn't function during the day on it, so only took it at night. The last 2 weeks or so, I've noticed drastic mood changes, hostility, poor judgment, etc. This past holiday weekend, I did up my dose on my own just from "holiday depression" and being alone. She now says we have to wean me off of it and to take 1 mg a night for the next week until she gets back from vacation.

Don't know if I trust her judgment.I wouldn't worry about how you take the klonopin. Some people have negative effects from it. I not being one of them. It does make you somewhat sleepy at times. It does help you sleep better but I don't think it stays in your system long enought to help with panic attacks during the day. I have taken up to 3mg a day before, now I just take about 1mg in a split dose. I think it has a very calming effect when you get somewhat manic or out of control. Klonopin is one drug that I don't worry about. Any drug that you take on a regular basic you need to wean from.
