I did the tapering after 3 days of dizziness (from the 37.5mg to 0 drop) and had no "brutal" symptoms. It was the right solution for me, it took time but allowed me to be a normal human during the process. I also was taking multivitamins which may have helped.

SLS has posts which warn about concerns with worse or extended withdrawal from cold turkey (I'm working from memory here). I've also read at least one anecdote about suicide thoughts during cold turkey, and between that and the severity of the symptoms one gets, it is not worth it in my opinion.
