I'm living through Effexor withdrawal without tapering. My dose was Effexor XR 150 mg. everyday for maybe 4-5 years? I went cold turkey and I'm on day 6. I will never touch another granule of Effexor.
From what I've read on message boards, even tapering doesn't forgive the BRUTAL withdrawal symptoms. I say get in a mind set where you know the first 3-4 days are going to be nasty and endless, but know you'll get through it. It really helped me to read these boards when I thought I wasn't going to get through. BUt I'm on day 6 and finally seeing the light at the end of the tunnel. Today's theme is moments of crying but I feel better after. I certainly am not back to myself by any means, maybe 60% but I'll take it.
There is some great advice, I think, by rabble_rouser re vitamin/amino supplements in preparation for and during the withdrawals. I've also had a bit of success w/ acupuncture and herbs. Not that "herb" but I've also heard that's good for nausea, etc. I'm not above anything at this point.
Good luck and if there's anything more I can do for you, let me know.
Amanda
