Effexor withdrawal or wellbutrin side effects?

Posted by oceanbabe on July 28, 2005, at 13:51:12

I have been taking Effexor XR 150mg for about 4 years and started tapering about 2 months ago with no bad effects. Last Friday (7/22) my dr. switched me from 37.5 mg of effexor to Wellbutrin 150mg. By the next day I was feeling awful: dizziness, zaps, insomnia, major tiredness.... and it's just getting worse. I thought that it was my body adjusting to wellbutrin and decided to just stick it out. By yesterday I couldn't hardly function and called my DR (still assuming it was the wellbutrin) and she switched to Lexapro.

now I find this site and am thinking that it was the effexor withdrawal all along. So now I have to decide whether to continue wellbutrin or go to Lexapro. I'm leaning towards lexapro because it can help with anxiety also......... anyone have experince with these two meds (wellbutin and lexapro)? Does one of them have an easier withdrawal? I don't want to start anything that I have to go through this to get off of again.
