I was able to stop Prozac cold turkey after using it for years at 80 mg. It just of happened. I became very ill with viral meningistis and I didn't take my meds. The good thing was that I was able to start Parnate without doing a washout.

This is a trend that I am beginning to observe in the descriptions of people here. It does not seem to happen when one tapers gradually enough to prevent an intense withdrawal syndrome from appearing in the first place.

However, if I'm right, the first thing someone should do if they have discontinued one of these drugs abruptly and developed an intense withdrawal syndrome is to either restart the drug or cross over to another serotonergic agent like Prozac.
