so i think they are doing away with the examination now.
the elite white weren't testing so well, even when they were given all the answers by their tutors or teachers who wrote the exam.
but the contents were published... and it was something they gave the kids to do in their summer internships -- right? the best summer internships, at all, would have served as summer school programmes to help you revise the previous years curriculum -- right?
and the first aid books got written...
and they got read. at least by me. we tried to keep them out of the libraries in new zealand, i think.
they would be all 'they aren't culturally appropriate here, for us, with our populations, and we don't have access to any of the medicines, anyway'.
i mean, here, it is many orders of magnitude more overtly or blatantly racist what they are doing with the case-studies. the stereotypes and initial triage decisions for maaori. not 'well he was genetically predisposed to oxygen deprivation and must have been the sickle cell tendancy that resulted in him dying while a cop stood on his throat' but more issues around ensuring lack of access to antibiotics...
norms around sports and head injury (lets do another intergenerational study on teh effects of repeated head trauma with no helmet. not at the stage of randomised trial because nobody gets a helmet nobody gets a helmet there is no evidence appropriate for our sociocultural environment that giving people helmets will help them because nobody gets a helmet nobody gets a helmet nobody gets a helmet)
