Canadian examiner...
Said it wasn't completed yet. 3 significant problems. Wanted to see a definition of a term. Was concerned about something I said and wanted me to re-think what I was saying / clarify what I was saying. Wanted to see typos fixed up, some more references, some incomplete sentences fixed up.
Stuff that was suposed to be done within 10 weeks. Where an electronic copy could go to them requesting sign off.
I didn't have their name / adress - I needed the Dean or my Supervisor to get my work to them in a timely fashion requesting sign off.
Waikato refused.
SOmeone (Name redacted) emailed him and asked him if he was recommending I keep working for 6 months.
He said 'I have returned my report'.
They said 'so -- 6 months more work?'
He said 'sure, 6 months'
And he's thinking 'well gosh, darned, they be slow workers, in the Waikato'.
Then he gets sent a thesis (after 6 months) and asked to examine it again (he didn't ask it to be examined again. What the hell? Maybe the other examiner required that and so a 3rd examiner was asked to weigh in... Why the hell is he being asked to write another report? Does Waikato know how to examine a thesis?
So he ticks the box saying 'proceed to oral defence'.
I mean... If they are going to dither... All expenses trip to New Zealand -- right?
At which point the Dean says: 'the examiners were unanimous that the thesis is not acceptable in it's present state (that's not what a request for oral examination means)'
The f*ck*ng idiocy.
