I am lucky because I've always had a mum who dotes on me and who I've always got a lot of love from. I'm also very lucky in that I have a close male friend who still manages to make me laugh and make light out of my situation.

I'm also very lucky, in that I have a female friend who is a born again Christian (I'm agnostic). She is very vivacious, almost infectious. She has also had a lot of physical problems in her life that has stopped her having the life that she might have wanted. She is very phillosophical about it and believes there is something much greater than what we know in the here and now. Whilst I'm not a believer, I do get inspiration from her and I can identify with her.

Find people you can trust, identify with and people who can take your mind of your condition even if it is just for a short time.

As far as your social anxiety goes, join a dance group or something where you do childish things and where social ettiquette doesn't matter.

I go to a dance group once a week, admittedly I have to have a alcoholic drink halfway through to give myself something to look forward to but I can tell there are lots of other people who have issues and sometimes dancing, even if you make mistakes is a laugh and helps you forget yourself even if it is just for a few moments at a time.
