Do you think that you'd make a good police officer? Police officers need to be able to handle stress well, as their jobs tend to produce lots of stress and also tend to involve more confrontations with others than most jobs do. I don't think I'd handle such a job well if I could even report to duty on time, but maybe having a police job would be something that you could succeed at.
I know what you mean about feeling like you're lacking in purpose, though. I very well might write some fiction myself if I can ever get my concentration to be consistently decent. Working as a writer would definitely give me more of a sense of purpose than I have now, although I'll admit that there are other jobs that I'd find to be more fulfilling. Like being a police officer, for example. Again, I doubt that I'd be cut out for the police force, but if you think that you would be, then maybe it would be worth pursuing.
