... and then i went to graduate school and studied a masters (by research) and am just now writing up my phd thesis... it is meant to be done by early december but i think i'll manage a (better be the last one!) final extension to submit my march.

classes start for me in march. i am doing OY1 which involves 4 core papers (bio-chem, cell bio, epidemiology, anatomy and physiology) and... there are two pathways. you can either do bio-medical science (so you get bio-physics, more advanced bio-chem, genetics, option) or health science (so you get 3 social science-y papers about psychology of health and knowledge of the health system in this country etc). i have applied for both. the former is competitive entry - so not sure if i will get offered a place since hard to weight a Master of Arts degree in irrelevant subjects with the nations top science school leavers. if i do get an offer of both...

i'm tempted to take the bio-medical science. i know i'll be good at the later and will find it interesting. i... can cover that material on my own time if i wanted to that bad, however. teaching myself bio-physics etc is much much harder. and i can't do the labs without enrolling in the courses... in a way it feels risky... but i want to see how i do in science.

if i don't get selected for transition into medicine 2015 then i'll reasses things. i guess i'd like to do a double degree in science / health science in that case. leave open options for graduate school. bio-medical science research and health policy work, yeah. but really... i think i'd much rather be an orthopedic or neuro surgeon :)

if it turns out i really can't function outside the university and so i get an exemption to study more (even though i'm over my lifetime limit for the government loaning me money to study) then i'll do law and economics and politics

:)
