P.S. Pompeii was enormous and heartbreaking to see. It's a vast site, as far as Roman excavations go. We traversed the length of it. Many rooms, villas, and areas are closed off due to lack of funding for keeping the places cleared and staffed. Life in modern day Italy means not enough money to keep these places staffed to generate the tourism income. Those Roman roads btw are not for the high heeled (of which I saw none), and keeping my eyes on the ground proved to be a smart tactic.
