One of the guys who lives somewhere on this complex... Is pretty good at training. I came back once and him and his wife were doing this not stupid crossfit style circuit thing. Strength bags to elbow and throw and burpees and mountain climbers etc. He said they were going to do the same workout for 6 sessions then move to another. Which is great - for making progress / adapting and then mixing things up before hitting a plateau.
Anyway... He is out the back now with their... Oh, he must be about 4. Teaching him how to play rugby. The little sh*t is pretty good at it already. He's kicking the ball then screaming at the kid to yell and then dive on the ball for a TRY!!!!! Pretty funny.
I don't understand... They'll do that for hours a few times a week and the kids probably going to grow up to make the all blacks. They'll practice culture group for hours and scare the crap (well, not really, but perform really very impressively) out of the next tribe at national kapa haka. But sit down and read a book together... Nope. Why not academics??? I don't understand why excellence there doesn't translate...
