What's that?
What do you talk about?
CBT is not a globally effective treatment for mental illness. It is not magic for everyone. In fact, it is probably a complete waste of time for many. CBT helped me a great deal to help me recognize negative thoughts and perform reality testing. It is a top-down therapy, and doesn't always change core beliefs. However, it can produce results rather quickly. Many people use CBT as a coping tool to be employed until other types of treatment take effect. Once you learn the CBT technique, you can practice it on your own. It doesn't take very long to get the hang of it. Personally, I like an eclectic approach that combines CBT and IPT (interpersonal psychotherapy). I don't know what psychological traits make for a good candidate for psychodynamic therapy or psychoanalysis.
