"Give the drummer some"
As a drummer/percussionist from ninth grade through junior year of college, as well as the occasional jam drummer since then, I echo this. I might touch a drum kit once or twice a year, at my most prolific, but only because it's easier to strap on a Gibson SG and kick out evil sounding riffs through my Marshall half stack. Yet..... The single most enjoyable musical experience I can remember having in the past decade was an impromptu jam with some folks I had never played with before on "Freebird." I rarely play drums anymore, but good GAWD, that was fun.' The intro, especially. Not keeping a beat, just trying to break heads and sticks. And later, during the extended guitar solo, the dynamics of the song fall squarely on the drums and banging the crash on the one and two while hitting 16ths on the hi-hit, for someone who's more accustomed to fretting a chord on the guitar is a nice rush. And the rush is something I felt when I read your poem. It moved, seemingly in a manner more concerned with movement than resolution. Thanks for sharing it.
