How the heck did I get economy plus seats?

I hope I didn't pay more inadvertently!

I had economy plus boarding passes and seats during my trip. I didn't pick them or anything, thought I did book through Air Canada and had codeshare flights. Perhaps Air Canada has an arrangement for economy plus seats?

All my Air Canada Flights have had more amenities than the United Flights, with personal TV's and snacks and beverages included. Perhaps it's an automatic thing with Air Canada?
